Hi! I'm Crystal...

I am thought leader and capacity builder who bridges clinical expertise with practical, neurodiversity-affirming strategies. Through my consultation and professional learning work, I help professionals, families, and organizations move beyond deficit-based models to create environments where autistic and other neurodivergent individuals can thrive!

My roles have included speech-language pathologist, special education/neurodiversity advocate, author, entrepreneur and national speaker. But, my favorite role is wife and mom to two neurodivergent teens.

My passion is sharing knowledge and hope in the areas of Autism, neurodiversity, communication, and IEPs. After 25+ years in the education space, I love using what I've learned to empower and inspire others.

Meet Crystal

I'm Crystal Sanford, M.Ed., M.A. CCC-SLP, ASDCS. That's a bit of an alphabet soup, I know...but I am just a lifelong learner.

I have lived in the "speech therapy" and "education" space for over 25 years, spending most of that time supporting students in public schools as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). But soon after my own daughter was identified as autistic, I embarked on a new journey of empowering families just like mine and the organizations and systems that surround them.

Speech IEEs

As a California licensed and board-certified Speech Language Pathologist, I offer comprehensive IEEs (Independent Educational Evaluations) as a service to the San Diego community.

IEEs may be helpful for parents who have residual questions after their child has been evaluated through the public school/IEP process. A speech IEE can provide an additional unbiased evaluation of a child's communication skills to determine if there are any needs potentially impacting their educational performance.

Areas addressed through my speech IEEs: expressive language, receptive language, social pragmatic skills, and students who are said to "no longer require an IEP".
